Happy New Year! Let us hope for relief from the dreadful burden of covid-19 and that 2021 is peaceful and healthy for us all.

I’m writing this in mid-December, so it’s hard to think about the new year, as we haven’t had Christmas yet! But we’re planning to follow the usual pattern for services during the pandemic. There will be 2 services a month and should you wish to join us for any of our services, we would be very pleased to welcome you.  However, as our capacity is greatly reduced, please contact me in advance to ensure that you can be allocated a seat. My contact details are on the contact pages on this website.

We weren’t able to hold our usual well-attended Christingle Service in 2020, but the church has sent a cheque for £200 to the Childrens Society, to help support the Society’s excellent work with vulnerable children.

Our first service of the new year will be Epiphany Evensong, at 6.30pm on Sunday 3rd January, when we recall the visit of the Wise Men or kings to the infant Jesus in Bethlehem. Jean will play the organ as usual and this will be our last opportunity to hear the music of familiar carols until next Christmas. I fervently hope we’ll have been able to resume singing by then! Do get in touch with me if you’d like to join us.

We also hope that we’ll be able to hold some events in 2021, but I’ll keep you posted. Suffice it to say that nothing is planned for the first few months of the year, so we won’t be holding our ever-popular Burns Night Supper and Dance. But normal times will return and we’ll be ready when they do!

Until next time!

Jill Nicol, Churchwarden
