Christian way of life

A baptism or christening, is a service which involves making promises before God and the desire to follow the Christian way of life as well as being a celebration of this precious new gift of life.

During the service, parents and Godparents have to be prepared to make promises on behalf of the children. It is a stipulation, therefore, that Godparents will need to have been baptised.

You can be baptised as an adult also and in its most simplest form, it is a declaration of a commitment to follow Jesus.

If you would like your baptism to be at Stowey Church, please contact the Rector – contact details are on our contacts page. The baptism will usually take place within a normal service and so the time of that service can be altered to ensure it is convenient.

The Church of England also has a very detailed website which will give you most of the information you need – www.churchofenglandchristenings.org
