We are pleased to announce that the first phase of the restoration works to the Henry Strachey murals has started.
The Henry Strachey murals are currently being cleaned and conserved by art conservators Lisa Shekede and Stephen Rickerby.
Lisa and Stephen are international wall painting Conservators.
Past and current projects include Byzantine churches in Cyprus, ancient tombs in Egypt, Buddhist caves and temples in China and Bhutan, Orthodox churches in Georgia and rock-cut churches in Ethiopia.
They also work on a wide variety of wall paintings and decorative schemes in the UK, from the medieval to the modern period.
In this illustrated presentation they will tell the story of how the murals were created and describe their place in the mural revival movement of the early 20th century.  They will also talk about the processes and challenges involved in rehabilitating the paintings.
This is a free event but booking is essential as we are limited with numbers.  If you would like to attend, please email Elaine Daly at activities.stoweyrevived@outlook,com.  Unfortunately, if you have not prebooked, entry will not be possible.
